As of today, the genrechallenge is closed. It's been months since we posted a new genre and longer since we had the time to properly maintain the community. Thank you, everyone, for joining and contributing. It was a delight to watch as skills developed and stories unfolded.
Best of luck to you all!
This is a community which challenges any and all comers to write outside their comfort zone by trying their hand at writing within multiple genres. Have you noticed yet that you tend to write almost exclusively Fantasy? Can't get through a story without throwing a whole ton of smut in? Challenge yourself to try!
The Basics: 1. On the first of the month, I'll post that month's Genre of choice 2. You have one month to write a complete story within the Genre (minimum of only 1000 words!) 3. When it's finished, post it to the community for feedback.
Please read the Rules Page! The rules are quite simple but you will be expected to follow them!
all_unwritten is a place for writers to post their writing and get feedback from other writers. Very open and with a large membership, so plenty of feedback to be had! (Not genre specific)
creativefantasy is a place for original fantasy writers to find people to beta read their stories. It is also for sharing writing tips, writing articles and general writing information, along with discussions about various aspects of writing (plot, dialogue, characters, world-building, etc.).
genrebetas is a writer/beta reader networking community.
ink_twist, a writing prompt comm. 7 prompts are posted each week. Moderators leave feedback, so at least some constructive criticism guaranteed for all posts!
linebyline: Every day a new line is posted, and you have to write some prose (from a drabble up) which includes the line in context.
promptdujour "Fighting Writer's Block one day at a time". Daily creative prompts every day.
